Office CT

Middle Tennessee Ear, Nose & Throat (MTENT) performs adult and pediatric CTs of the sinuses in our Murfreesboro location. We have performed in office CTs since November of 2007. Typically these scans are performed the day of your appointment with the doctor or physician assistant. Our patients find this more convenient as well as typically saving time and money. Generally, the cost is less when compared to a CT performed in an outside imaging facility.

New CT Scanner

MTENT purchased a XORAN MiniCAT IQ in 2016.  The MiniCAT IQ is a compact upright volume computed tomography imaging system that uses cone beam radiological technology. This system has made performing office CTs more efficient for our patients by emitting a very low dose of radiation and having a short exam time, little over a minute. The XORAN MiniCAT IQ is physically more comfortable during the exam as the patient sits upright in an exam chair.

Accreditation for  Office CT

To perform an  office CT, a practice must be accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) and maintain compliance with state regulations.  The IAC accredits facilities that provide radiological services.  Accreditation ensures the quality of patient care and improves overall healthcare. Under the IAC CT division there are daily, monthly, and yearly requirements that must be performed for compliance and to apply for reaccreditation every three years.  MTENT has been accredited by the IAC since 2009. We have been in compliance with state regulations since purchasing our first CT machine in 2007.  Recently, MTENT was randomly inspected by the State of TN Division of Radiological Health and found to be fully compliant.

To remain in compliance with all state and national agencies, a full scope radiological technologist must perform CTs.  The technologist must be registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certified on operating our CT equipment.  Since 2009, I have been the technologist on staff.   I am registered by the ARRT and certified on the XORAN MiniCAT IQ.  My memberships include The American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) and The Tennessee Society of Radiologic Technologists (TSRT).

Maintaining compliance is very important to MTENT and allows our practice to offer in office CT services.  We hope our efforts have allowed our patients a more convenient and enjoyable office experience.
